The Art of Law

Every endeavor
has its own art, whether it’s hitting
a baseball, writing
a symphony,
or handling a lawsuit. In the
legal arena there’s an art to envisioning solutions where others see problems. It has
to do with understanding how to resolve matters in a way that benefits each client. It has to do with the art of helping clients contain problems and expand opportunities.

Carrington Coleman's transportation and logistics practice includes municipalities, industrial parks, intermodal facility developers for inland ports, warehousing, distribution, and other logistics services.  We also oversee safety regulations by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, facility siting, and other logistical considerations suggested by federal, state, and local regulation of the movement of freight by highway or rail.

Carrington Coleman represents manufacturers, distributors, dealers of trucks, automobiles, motor homes, motorcycles, and farm equipment, as well as trucking companies.  Our representations involve consultations, agency proceedings, litigation, and appeals in both state and federal systems.  We also handle construction contracts, state motor vehicle regulation, product liability, personal injury, insurance coverage (including property & casualty, inland marine, general liability, and other policies) contract disputes, bankruptcy and reorganization, creditors’ rights, intellectual property, antitrust and unfair competition, employee relations, and other issues facing the transportation industry.

Further, we have represented lenders in various financing transactions, involving trucking and equipment dealerships, including the acquisition of interest in companies in the trucking business or assets of such companies, and are familiar with the issues in creating and perfecting security interests in the assets of such companies.  Carrington Coleman has represented companies regarding employment counseling issues, including discrimination/retaliation claims brought by former employees, as well as claims brought on behalf of the trucking companies and their employees.  Our employment counseling has touched on all aspects of Texas employment law including development of appropriate workplace policies, employee drug testing issues, termination decisions, leave issues, workers’ compensation, and more specialized advice touching on Department of Transportation issues.
