The Art of Law

Every endeavor
has its own art, whether it’s hitting
a baseball, writing
a symphony,
or handling a lawsuit. In the
legal arena there’s an art to envisioning solutions where others see problems. It has
to do with understanding how to resolve matters in a way that benefits each client. It has to do with the art of helping clients contain problems and expand opportunities.

For over thirty years, Carrington Coleman has represented major health care providers of nearly every type in North Texas, from tertiary care teaching hospitals to sole practitioner physicians.  We have served hospitals and hospital systems — both profit and not-for-profit — in litigation and transactional work.  We have litigated extensively various types of health care related claims, including hospital and physician negligence, negligent credentialing, peer review matters, staff privileges disputes, employment matters, ERISA, and antitrust.  We have participated in many of the area’s large health care and hospital mergers and affiliations and have experience in such complex regulatory and compliance areas as Medicare and Medicaid fraud and abuse, EMTALA, HIPAA, institutional review, and environmental cases.

With Carrington Coleman’s counseling and litigation support, our health care clients are better able to focus on what matters most to them — efficient delivery of safe and effective health care to the community.  We advise our clients on issues of day-to-day concern, such as antitrust, credentialing, utilization review, physician and nursing peer review, facility licensing, personnel matters, and medical ethics and related issues, such as continuation of care for patients without advance directives.  Our firm has extensive experience drafting hospital and medical staff bylaws as well as rules and regulations.  We have also supervised risk management programs for major hospitals.

In addition to our representation of hospitals and hospital systems, we have represented health insurers, medical-device manufacturers, provider and physician organizations (PPOs, PHOs, IPAs, 5.01a organizations, and group practices), long-term-care facilities, mental health facilities, hospices, home health agencies, pharmacies, third party administrators, and tax exempt health care-oriented foundations.
