The Art of Law

Every endeavor
has its own art, whether it’s hitting
a baseball, writing
a symphony,
or handling a lawsuit. In the
legal arena there’s an art to envisioning solutions where others see problems. It has
to do with understanding how to resolve matters in a way that benefits each client. It has to do with the art of helping clients contain problems and expand opportunities.

Carrington ColemanCarrington Coleman
Banking

Carrington Coleman's banking practice counsels lenders and borrowers in loan transactions of all descriptions. We represent loan origination offices of overseas banks, local banks, life insurance companies, savings associations, private lenders as well as both public company and private business borrowers in documenting and closing real estate, energy, and asset-based lending transactions of all sizes and types for many market sectors. We maintain a pragmatic philosophy of documentation and avoid document "overkill" while striving to protect the business and legal risks of our clients. For a number of years, our group has authored the article on Texas usury law for the Symposium of Commercial Finance Law, and we consider ourselves experts on that subject.

While we most often serve as lead counsel on loan transactions, we act as local Texas counsel in large loan transactions that involve issues of Texas law or require a Texas legal opinion. Our practice also involves a substantial volume of commercial foreclosures and representation of lender creditors in bankruptcy proceedings, including some of the most complex business reorganizations. We have also handled a large volume of loan workouts and lender liability litigation in connection with defaulted loans for both borrowers and lenders.
