Jacob Hill is an associate in the Business Litigation group at Carrington Coleman, with a particular emphasis on complex commercial, insurance, intellectual property, and employment litigation.  Mr. Hill also has experience in antitrust, securities, intellectual property, commercial mortgage, and product liability litigation among other areas.  He has experience in all phases of litigation and arbitration, including discovery, motion practice, depositions, mediations, pre-trial, and trial.  Mr. Hill’s representative cases range from small disputes to multi-billion dollar securities and patent cases.

Mr. Hill also has significant international experience, having spent two and a half years living and working in South Korea, and becoming immersed in the Korean language and culture.  His international experience allows him to bring a unique understanding to the representation of international entities.

Representative Litigation

Member of trial team that successfully represented a departed employee in a suit brought by his former employer for breach of contract, theft of trade secrets, breach of fiduciary duty, and unjust enrichment among other issues.

Member of arbitration team that obtained a large arbitration award in a case involving post-closing adjustment of the purchase price of an entity.

Member of the trial team that obtained a favorable bench verdict (upheld by the Delaware Supreme Court) in a breach of contract suit involving a patent portfolio agreement in the semiconductor industry.

Member of arbitration team that successfully defended against an alleged breach of a manufacturing agreement.

Obtained temporary and permanent injunctions in several matters involving covenants not to compete.

Obtained summary judgment defeating civil RICO and tortious interference claims brought against a real estate developer.

Obtained summary judgment and favorable settlement in a breach of contract suit involving a patent portfolio agreement related to inmate telecommunications.

Represented companies in the semiconductor, fitness equipment, telecommunications, and software industries in patent infringement actions.

Represented companies in a variety of insurance coverage disputes.

Represented Fortune 100 companies in SEC investigations and shareholder class actions.
