Mr. Burger is an associate at Carrington Coleman. His practice encompasses the representation of plaintiffs and defendants in a broad variety of commercial lawsuits, including breach of contract, employment non-compete, trade secrets, fiduciary duty, securities, tortious interference, personal injury, and discrimination claims. Representative of his work, Mr. Burger successfully obtained a temporary restraining order, writ of sequestration, and permanent injunction to prevent a client’s former employee from using or disclosing the company’s unlawfully obtained trade secrets. Mr. Burger's practice also includes assisting solo and small firm practitioners in the preparation and trial of their cases, including preparing and arguing jury charges, summary judgment responses, and expert challenges, as well as interlocutory and mandamus appeals. Texas Monthly magazine named him a "Rising Star" in business litigation from 2007 through 2010.
Mr. Burger's litigation experience has included cases in state and federal court, at both the trial and appellate levels, representing companies and individuals based in Texas and elsewhere in the United States, Europe, and Asia. He also was part of a team of Carrington Coleman attorneys who successfully litigated to commute the sentence of an inmate who had spent over 15 years on Texas Death Row.
Prior to joining Carrington Coleman, Mr. Burger was a law clerk to the Honorable Richard A. Schell of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Texas. He received a bachelor's degree from Emory University in 1998 and a law degree from Southern Methodist University in 2002, graduating magna cum laude and earning a membership in the Order of the Coif.
